Hello, and welcome to Infrastry! My name is Luke Strickland (@clone1018), and I’m the founder.
Infrastry is a new company taking a fresh approach to an old problem: getting software into production and keeping it there. The way we create software is changing at an incredible pace, but the work required to deploy and operate it remains fractured, complicated, and inaccessible to far too many people.
I’m building Infrastry because I believe production should be a natural continuation of creating software. You should be able to hand over an application, and trust that the infrastructure beneath it will be created, maintained, and repaired without becoming another project for you to manage.
We are still at the beginning, which makes this the right time to put our intentions into words. This post introduces Infrastry, explains the future we believe should exist, and establishes the responsibilities we are building the company to assume.
What follows is our vision, our mission, and our goals. These ideas will continue to become clearer as Infrastry grows, but they provide a standard against which we can make decisions, measure progress, and hold ourselves accountable.
Vision
Enable anyone to make software real in a cloud that operates itself.
We live in an amazing world. Seemingly overnight the creation of software, applications, and tools has exploded in availability, accessibility, speed, and quality. People who have never written code are planning, designing, and building apps of incredible quality that solve real needs without drowning in the technicalities of software development. Software developers who have spent years writing the same boilerplate to move the needle a fraction of a unit are now super powered by orchestrating machines to do the same work in seconds. Passionate people are now creating million dollar businesses in record time empowered by the advances of Artificial Intelligence and robust tooling.
However one area that is not advancing in the same way, or at the same speed, is deploying your applications. We’re on the bleeding edge of software development, but production feels left behind. The ecosystem is fractured between standing up virtual environments, hosted software services, app specific deployment providers, and generic platforms as a service. Tools you reach for when working with one project don’t end up being the tools you reach for in the second project. This leads to complexity in managing your various applications, tight lock in from software libraries, billing confusion, and entire industries built to dig you out.
Infrastry is here to change that. We’re building a cloud you don’t even see, one that you simply point an app towards using your favorite tooling, and the rest is just handled. We’re building a solution that understands the genetics of your application to create the right environment, and then listens to its beating heart to keep it running. Our product is designed to be a great fit for new builders with no traditional software development experience, and seasoned developers alike.
Mission
Understand Your Applications
Before Infrastry can operate an application, it must understand it. We examine its code, dependencies, configuration, and operating context to determine what it needs to build, run, and remain healthy. That understanding becomes a clear, living application specification that guides every deployment and operational decision.
As the application changes and produces new evidence, Infrastry continuously refines its understanding and solidifies that into the application specification.
A customer or their agents should not have to specify the nature, needs, or nuances of their applications.
Provide the Right Infrastructure
Infrastry translates the application specification into the best suited infrastructure an application needs. We select and configure the appropriate compute, data, networking, and supporting services according to its requirements, expected usage, and budget.
As the application changes or better options become available, Infrastry continuously adapts the infrastructure beneath it while minimizing disruption.
A customer or their agents should not have to select providers, configure services, or manage cloud resources.
Operate Continuously
Deployment is the beginning of Infrastry’s responsibility, not the end. We continuously observe each application, verify that it is working as intended, and respond when reality diverges from the desired state.
Protecting customer data and preserving availability are fundamental to that responsibility. Infrastry safeguards data through deployments and failures, prepares recovery paths before they are needed, and minimizes downtime when problems occur.
A customer or their agents should not have to monitor application health, diagnose outages, or perform routine maintenance. When human judgment is required, Infrastry presents the decision in understandable terms; otherwise, it handles recovery, scaling, and repairs automatically.
Goals
Our immediate work is focused on building the foundation, tools, and operating experience required to make the cloud disappear for the people using it.
Build a Robust Cloud
Infrastry must provide a secure, reliable, and adaptable foundation for every application it operates. We are building a cloud capable of protecting data, surviving failures, and evolving alongside the applications that depend on it, without exposing customers to the complexity underneath.
Create Premium Tools for People and Agents
Using Infrastry should feel like a well built, premium product. We are creating clear, powerful tools that give people and agents the same ability to understand an application, make decisions, take action, and see the outcome.
Every interaction should be approachable for a new builder, efficient for an experienced developer, and structured enough for an agent to use safely.
Deploy and Maintain Applications
Infrastry must do more than launch an application. We are building a continuous path from source code to a healthy production environment, followed by the monitoring, maintenance, recovery, and improvement required to keep it there.
Customers and their agents should be able to keep building while Infrastry handles the work required to keep their applications running. Deploying successfully should always be a push, an agent call, CLI command, or CI action away.
Make Billing Clear
Customers should always understand what they are paying for and why. Infrastry will bring infrastructure and AI usage together into clear billing, explain how costs change, and make budgets part of every infrastructure decision.
There should be no maze of providers, disconnected invoices, or unexpected resources—just an understandable relationship between what an application uses and what it costs.
